What is a Plasma Dome?

Plasma Domes are electrically powered promotional units which emit a soft and gentle glow of light and a swirling lightning effect which moves continuously inside the high quality glass dome. The dome is a single piece of glass which is shaped and filled with a special mixture of gass before being sealed air tight, similar to fluorescent tubes or neon lights which are also air tight and gass filled glass, introducing a high voltage electrical charge causes the gass inside the sealed glass dome to react which produces the beautiful lightning effect. The plasma dome uses a specific mixture of gas which reacts by creating a unique lightning type effect. Electricity from a twelve volt AC adapter supplied with all products supplies the initial power to the plasma dome. This feeds the main circuit which boosts (steps up) power to a massive 15,000V - 25,000V, the high voltage is directed through the bottom and out through the top of the glass bottle to the very top. The power is high enough to create a reaction in the gasses through the glass wall of the dome, the lightning effect is the gasses reacting. The amazing ever-moving swirl of lightning inside the plasma dome is simply beautiful.

Plasma Dome Information

Beautiful and eye catching, the plasma dome is a fantastic gadget that is sure to attract a lot of attention. Lightning swirls gracefully within the sealed glass dome while a soft glow of light is created from the led's monted in the base. Touching the glass dome with your fingers attracts the lightning that will follow your fingertips. The plasma dome is illuminated with 18 super bright LED's of various colours which create a soft ambient glow. The configuration of the of the LED's positioned around the base of the featured product depends which brand of plasma dome you look at, an example of this is the Miller Genuine Draft plasma dome only uses white LED's. Some plasma domes use more than one colour of LED to enhance the overall look, an example of this is the Smirnoff Black Ice plasma dome which uses both ultra violet and white LED's. The video playing on the left displays different effects that can be achieved when using different LED configurations. Some bottles in our plasma domes need to be coloured inside with a special semi transparent paint, this is intended to give the illusion that the bottle retains the original liquid. A switch on the base allows you to turn the plasma dome on or off. Plasma domes are intended for display purposes in bars, clubs, and shops, in fact you can use them anywhere, even at home. Plasma domes make great gifts; use the plasma dome as a subtle light at home or as a unique way of promoting your own product. One thing is for sure, the plasma dome looks fantastic anywhere! Plasma domes have a long life expectancy and all electronic circuitry is tested and certified safe to EC standards. Each unit stands 38cm tall. The total weight of the plasma dome including adapter and packaging is approx 2.7kg. The input voltage for these units is 12V DC. We supply AC adapters with the plasma dome, there is a choice of two types, 220-240V DC (2 pin) or 100-120V DC (2 pin). Please be clear which of the two you require when you order your plasma dome.
